ARMY BAND TO TAKE PART IN TULLAMORE ST. PATRICK'S DAY PARADE

 Mon, 19th Feb, 2024

The Athlone based Army Band will take part in this year's St. Patrick's Day Parade in Tullamore.   There are now five Bands confirmed for the Parade including Mullingar Town Band, Athlone Pipe Band, Athy Pipe Band, Clara Town Band and the Army Band.

"We are delighted that the Army Band from Athlone will perform in this year's Parade.   They took part last year and were very well received.   It is harder to get bands now as many bands are no longer playing and the fact that we have already got five Bands confirmed is really great as people love to hear marching Bands" states Cllr Sean O' Brien, Parade Secretary.

This year's Parade takes place on Sunday 17 March commencing at 11.30 a.m. sharp.   The assembly point is the Car Park of  Bridge Centre and all groups are asked to be there by 11.00 a.m. at the latest.

The Grand Marshall this year is former Taoiseach, Brian Cowen.  There will be entertainment before the Parade at the Review Stand provided by Tullamore Comhaltas.  Brian Cowen will address the attendance at 11.10 a.m. and he will then cut the ribbon to launch the 2024 Parade.   A large crowd is expected at the Review Stand and people are asked to come early to enjoy the proceedings.   There will be a special viewing area reserved opposite the Review Stand for elderly and wheelchair users.

Letters of invitation have been sent to over 60 organisations and we are asking them all to make preparations early for their entry.  Any organisation can still enter the Parade by emailing seanobrientullamore@gmail.com or contact any of the officers listed below.

The Theme this year is "EIRE-CULTUR TRI CEOL, CAINT CRAIC AGUs SIOCHAIN AR FUD AN DOMHAIN", translated as "IRELAND-CULTURE THROUGH MUSIC, CHAT, FUN AND PEACE THROUGHOUT THE WORLD"   All entries are asked to reflect this theme in their entry.
