ALL SYSTEMS GO FOR TULLAMORE ST. PATRICK'S DAY PARADE

 Wed, 4th Mar, 2020

Preparations for the Tullamore St. Patrick's Day Parade are nearing completion with a little over two weeks to the Parade.   The Parade takes place on Tuesday 17th March, starting at 11.30 a.m.

"Our Committe have been meeting every week since the start of January and we are delighted with the response so far which indicates that we will have another great Parade in Tullamore this year.   As well as the usual groups who have been with us for many years we also have many new groups entering for the first time.   There is still time for groups to enter, simply call any of the numbers at the bottom of this article" states Sean O' Brien.

The assembly point is the Car Park of the Bridge Centre and groups are asked to be there by 11.00 a.m.   There will be three Face Painters at the rear of the Bridge Centre where children can get face painting for free; there will also be  Mascots which will provide a photo opportunity.

The Route will be Main St., Patrick St., Bridge St., and High St.   The Review Stand will be located in O' Connor Sq. and there will be ample space for the public to gather here to view the Parade.   There will be a special area reserved for elderly who will be provided with seats; there will also be a reserved area for people with disabilities.   Entertainment will be provided before the Parade so come early to enjoy.

The Theme for this year is "Climate Change--What Can WE Do".   "Climate change has been a hot subject recently and we feel that this is an opportunity for people and groups to suggest some solutions or to express opinions.   We are advising groups to be as inventive as they wish.   This is an ideal opportunity for schools to get students involved in a project by preparing an entry for the Parade" states Sean O' Brien, Parade Secretary.

The Grand Marshall this year is Phil O' Reilly Sr. in recognition of his major contribution to the business, community and sporting life of Tullamore and Offaly.

There will be generous prizes for the winners of the various categories on the day and these will be presented at a gala function a few weeks after the Parade.   There will also be a Window Display competition.
